Kick-off for a strong partnership!

Freight2Fly supports the “Hachenburger Frischlinge” at their rally Cape Town – Kigali

Hachenburger Frischlinge zu Gast bei Freight2Fly auf dem Hahn

We at Freight2Fly are very impressed by the voluntary commitment of the “Hachenburger Frischlinge” (transl.: Hachenburg Young Piglets). Therefore, we decided to support them in their current project, the construction of a building that will provide overnight accommodation for patients at the Gakoma Health Centre in Ruanda.

The three rally cars HUI, WÄLLER and ALLEMOL were to be taken from Hachenburg in the Westerwald via Rotterdam to Cape Town. That was the challenge for us. The Frischlinge then want to take over the vehicles in South Africa and drive them through a rally to their destination.

The Frischlinge were already in the full planning process when Freight2Fly’s sea freight department then took over the logistical part, which the guys from the Westerwald said had given them the biggest stomachache. Together with our good international network partners – here we involved the colleagues from IAA (Netherlands) and Ziegler (South Africa) – we were able to work out and set up a detailed shipment schedule.

The official farewell ceremony for the newcomers on 16 June at the Hachenburg brewery took place in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. At the same time, however, there was a sense of anticipation and positively tense expectation. We wished the rally drivers all the best for their mission.

On 19 June, one day before the departure of the rally cars, Frischling Bruno visited us in the office in Koblenz and handed us the Carnet customs document. Ten days later, after loading HUI, WÄLLER AND ALLEMOL into two containers, the Santa Clara set sail from Rotterdam. The three cars formed the vanguard for the Frischlinge, who were then to start their rally at the end of August at the port of Cape Town.

Some work and new, unexpected situations presented our sea freight team with challenges, but in the end they were all able to solve them together. The journey of the Frischlinge on their rally to Kigali could begin after a few days of waiting in Cape Town.

The reasons for the delay were mundane. The rally cars had about 120 stuffed animals in their luggage, as a gift for the children in the hospital. These stuffed animals should later be subject to a customs duty of the equivalent of about €20. This circumstance and incorrectly issued papers by the South African customs officials led to the delayed start of the freshlings on their journey.

On 30 August, the mission “Supporting the Gakoma Health Centre” could begin. The Frischlige have a huge check in their luggage, which is necessary for the implementation of this special and worthy of support project.

For Freight2Fly a matter of honour – For the Hachenburger Frischlinge a way of life – Nice that there are such people!
